Nervcast – Locked And Loaded

Right, you need to seriously check out Nervcast’s debut EP “Locked And Loaded” due, out on October 21st. The EP is mastered by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandra, The Devil Wears Prada) and produced/engineered by Collin Young (Animal Faces, Godstopper, Yonder Peak).  If you’re fans of classic Metallica, this one is going to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

First track and opening salvo is “Chemical Solution” and you’d be forgiven for thinking it was actually Metallica, it’s uncanny.  The bonus point for Nervcast is it has bags of energy ala “Ride The Lightning”.  Normally sounding like Metallica would condemn a band in many ways, but Nervcast do it so bloody well you can’t help nodding your head in approval.

Second track “Fallen Angels” is the lead single from “Locked and Loaded”, and everything is just spot on, it’s confident, it’s very well produced, the musicianship is impressive, and the vocal quite simply brilliant. I can only say, only two songs in, and I’m a fan.

Third track “Moonstruck” and Nervcast just take an ever so slight detour from the Metallica sound, and it still works.  Fast paced, well written and expertly performed, the song may be “Moonstruck”, but I’m awestruck by this band.

Final track “Locked and Loaded” and you’d expect a final hurrah, and thankfully it delivers and draws the curtains down on a fantastic EP.

Nervcast are going to have their detractors who are going to view the similarities with Metallica with a degree of negativity, but honestly, I can’t help but be impressed by them and certainly hope that most people are in agreement with me.
