Happyness – Review

Happyness are about one thing and one thing only, they are all about the music. Don’t go to see them and expect a crazy front man with exploding fireworks and eye mangling lightshows with lasers.

They might not be the liveliest act, but boy they can play. In about only 30 minutes they managed to get into everyone’s ears through their hypnotic and progressive sound, as if taken straight from an alternative band from the late 90s, The Dandy Warhols (the headliners) couldn’t have picked a better band to support them. In those short 30 minutes there were plenty of guitar tricks to impress the crowd, A LOT of guitar feedback and a pair of huge star shaped sun glasses worn by Jonny Allan (Guitar-Bass-Voice).

Half an hour clearly wasn’t enough to go through their hour long debut album (Weird Little Birthday, 2014) but it was to play 7 songs, including their biggest hit so far Montreal Rock Band Somewhere. I know they were the support act, but I can see them going again on a headline tour in the near future.
